This fishing tournament is open to all adults 16 years old or over, with a valid Texas Freshwater

Fishing License.

What Are We Fishing For

This tournament will test your strategic ability to catch Large-Mouth Bass

 

What Does My Registration Fee Get Me

Grand Prize: Person with the most points overall, will receive a cash prize of 150$ as well as complementary guided Redfishing trip in San Antonio.

Plus trophies and Door Prize chances. Also – a couple of extra jackpots – so bring some extra cash to the event.

100% of the proceeds from this tournament go towards the Fallen Soldiers Bass Tour and Military Athletics sponsored youth clinics and programs.

 

How Much, How Many & Deadlines

$30 Registration with payment thru 5pm, Friday, November 10, 2017. There is a maximum of 100 participants in this tournament. No refunds after 5:01 PM, Friday, November 10, 2017.

 

Tournament Schedule

6:30 AM – 7:25 AM – Parking: Park entrance is “Special Event/Maintenance” gate across from Masonwood.

6:30 AM – 7:15 AM – Pavilion: Check in, Late registration, show your Fishing License/pick up weight card & Purchase Jackpot chances

7:00 AM – (Sunrise) Amphitheater: Introduction, rules, welcome remarks and tournament “shotgun” start. Anyone not attending meeting or leaving amphitheater before the “start” will be disqualified.

7:25 AM – “Shotgun” Start

1:00 PM – Tournament Ends. Scores Tallied and Awards Handed Out at the amphitheater at the conclusion of event. You should be home by 2-230.

 

Fishing Format & Rules:

Participants will be issued a wristband and only those with wristbands will be permitted to fish in the tournament. All spectators MUST remain 20 feet away from the water’s edge. When the horn sounds for all to start fishing, we start fishing.

When a qualifying fish has been caught, participant must bring the live fish to the nearest tournament official. The official will record the fish weight, record the time the first fish is caught and the points for the catch.

  • ABSOLUTLEY NO LIVE BAIT. Artificial lures only for this tournament.
  • 1 point will be awarded for each complete ounce of any qualifying fish caught.
  • All rounding of ounces will rounded DOWN to the whole ounce.  Example:  A qualifying fish caught weighs in at 2 lbs, 5.9 ounces (37.9 total ounces) will receive a score of 37.
  • The time the first qualifying fish weighing more than 1 pound was caught will be the tie breaker. All other ties will be coin flip.

One Pole per person at a time, all fishing in Lake Kyle is from the bank only. No nets permitted. Any participant caught using a non-participant “partner” to cast, land or assist in any way will be disqualified from tournament.

All battery and fuel-powered vehicles shall remain at designated parking area.

 

Prizes:

Grand Prize: Person with the most points overall, will receive a cash prize of 150$ as well as complementary guided Redfishing trip to San Antonio.

2nd Place will receive a 100$ cash prize as well as accessories and equipment

3rd Place will receive a 50$ cash prize as well as accessories and equipment

 

Cash Jackpots:

Bring cash to the check-in or go to militathletics.org and reserve your spot. Half of the jackpot money goes toward the Kid’s Fishing Clinic, other half back to Jackpot winners.

Largest Bass Jackpot – $10 – participants enter themselves. Largest bass wins %50 of the jackpot, the other half goes toward the Kid’s Fishing Clinic. Ties broken by the time of the 2 competing fish caught, earliest fish caught wins.

Door Prizes:

Door prizes based on Sponsors and Donations, all paid participants will be entered in to door prize chances.

Kids Clinic

Ages 15 and under only

Military Athletics will be hosting a free kids clinic during the tournament which will include a range of lessons, tips, contests, prizes and freebies. Upon arrival youth participants will be checked in and given a wristband as well as receive a door prize for simply participating.

Because skill levels will be diverse through the age levels and the interests will range, we will be scheduling events in segments so that everyone has an opportunity to participate in each event as well as do the ones that individuals prefer over again. At the end of the “clinic” we will be hosting a few small prize competitions to end the afternoon. Events will take place as follows:
